DINGDONG DANTES ON MARIAN RIVERA’S ‘BALOTA’: ‘KAKAIBA ‘YUNG FULFILLMENT NIYA DITO’

Dingdong Dantes is witness to how dedicated Marian Rivera is to her newest movie, “Balota.”

In his GMA Integrated News interview with Nelson Canlas, which aired on “24 Oras,” Friday, Dingdong said that Marian would often come home with bruises and wounds.

“May pasa, may ano, ‘yung kuko niya natanggal. ‘Anong nangyari sa braso mo?’ May resibo eh tuwing umuuwi. May resibo kung gaano ka-intense ‘yung pelikula,” Dingdong said.

“Never ko kasi siyang nakita ring ganito kasaya eh sa paggawa ng isang pelikula bukod sa ‘Rewind.’ And for a very long time, hindi na rin siya gumawa,” he continued.

“Ang mga conversations namin ay tungkol na sa fulfillment as an artist, as an actor. Para sa kaniya, kakaiba ‘yung fulfillment niya dito sa pelikulang ito.”

Balota” follows a land-grabbing tycoon and a former male sexy actor who are locked in a tight race for the mayoral seat of a small town.

Marian plays the role of Emmy, a teacher who serves in the election. She runs into the wilderness with a ballot box, the last copy of the election results, when violence in their town erupts.

Balota” is directed by award-winning filmmaker Kip Oebanda. The movie premieres at the Cinemalaya Film Festival, which runs from Aug. 2 to 11.

Aside from Marian, it also stars Will Ashley, Royce Cabrera, Raheel Bhyria, Sassa Gurl, Esnyr, Nico Antonio, Donna Cariaga, Joel Saracho, Sue Prado, Mae Paner, and Gardo Versoza.
